Website content writing is one of the most important factors for search engine optimisation and customer engagement.
Creating compelling content which visitors enjoy reading can help with improving your conversion rates.
Of course, writing good content takes time and effort, but if you do this correctly then you will have a leading edge over your competitors.
If time is an issue then you should outsource your content writing, whatever you do, do not use a cheap low-cost content writer. Not the low cost means bad content. If you can find someone who will work for a small amount of money, then why not? But from my experience, low-cost content writing equals poor content writing.
Goals
before you start writing your content, it is worth bullet-listing the goals. This may be to promote a product or service. The content may be for a blog post to drive traffic to your website.
Setting out your goals will help you to write better content.
Reframe Content
Often I will write content which will incorporate a question. In the same article, I will answer that question. This is known as reframing. Often people will visit my website to find answers and it should be your goal to become a source of knowledge based around the type of business you run.
Examples and Data
Adding examples and data stats to your article can be a great way to reinforce your points. Giving real-world examples helps to build credibility and backing that up with stats will enhance your content.
Organise Content
Try to organise content in a logical format. You can see in this blog post each section has a title. This helps to organise content and makes it easier for people to read.
Drafting Content
Your first attempt at writing a specific article may not be perfect. But getting those words onto “paper” can help you to refine the content later. Sometimes I will quickly draft an article and then go back through the content to add some flair.
Catchy Title
You may create the best articles in the world, but if the title is not enticing you will probably not get many readers. The title of any article can incorporate numbers like Top 10, or How to statements. Example:
- Top 10 tips for running a business on a small budget
- How to save your business over £100 every month
